The HPV vaccination helps protect against cancers, including cervical cancer, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). It also helps protect against genital warts.

Almost everyone can have the HPV vaccine, including breastfeeding women. However it is not suitable for pregnant women.

It is best to get vaccinated before you have sex for the first time, as it means that you are protected before any exposure to HPV. However, you will still benefit from the vaccine if you have already had sex.
